Recreation

We desire that people at Osborne develop both spiritually and physically—sharing God’s word and maintaining their bodies as temples of God. The Recreation Ministry coordinates recreation activities for the church. Our main goal is to provide a place where the entire family can enjoy a fun-filled time together in a positive atmosphere and grow, not only physically, but spiritually to the glory of God.

Mega Sports Camp

If you know a kid, that kid is probably involved in sports. Millions of school-age kids in the United States play organized out-of-school sports. What better way to reach kids with the gospel than by connecting it to something kids love? MEGA Sports Camp provides the perfect backdrop to use the powerful impact of sports to share the life-changing message of the gospel!

MEGA Sports Camp is a fun and flexible program that mixes sports and Bible teaching to change the lives of kids in first through sixth grades. At MEGA Sports Camp kids enjoy a fast-paced mix of upbeat rallies, sports sessions, and coach huddles. MEGA Sports Camp is the best of sports camp and the best of Vacation Bible School rolled into one!

Open to rising 1st through rising 5th graders. Sports to choose from are: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, and soccer. There will be a different afternoon field trip each day; trips include Celebration Station, Shady Creek Farm, and the Greensboro Children’s Museum!

Scholarships are available upon need.

Upward Soccer

Upward is a fun, reliable, passionate and encouraging sports experience for boys and girls, 4 years old through sixth grade. Upward provides first class, organized and detailed sports programming in basketball, soccer, flag football and cheerleading. Unique aspects of Upward include an evaluation system that promotes equal and competitive teams as well as a substitution system which allows for equal playing time for all participants. Through Upward, children are exposed to quality coaching and sport development. Upward emphasizes character and integrity instead of a “win at all costs” mentality associated with today’s sports world.

Sports are a great way for children to learn about teamwork, respect for authority and sportsmanship. The sad part is all those things are being lost in today’s sporting society. With an Upward sport, these key essentials are included to create the best sporting experience for every child that participates. Each Upward Sport is designed to reveal the winner in every child. Every child plays. Every child learns. Every child IS a Winner!

Promoting Character and Self-Esteem in Every Child

Providing an evaluation system that promotes equal teams and opportunities
Establishing a one-hour practice and game each week
Implementing a substitution system for each team, allowing every child equal playing time
Creating the opportunity for every child to learn the skills of the game

The emphasis is placed on having fun and good sportsmanship, not the scoreboard and standings.
