IT'S NOT BABYSITTING,

IT'S A FOUNDATION.

Sunday mornings

CHECK IN

The first stop for all children (ages infant through fifth grade) is our check-in desk:

  • First, we will get some basic information from you about your baby and provide you with a sticker for your them. A corresponding sticker is given to the parent or guardian of the baby during check-in. You and your child must wear the stickers provided during check-in to gain entry to the children’s area.

What if my baby needs me?

  • Don't worry, we promise to let you know ASAP. If you’re needed during worship, the last four digits of your mobile phone will posted on the digital screens above the exit signs in the main worship center or we will text your mobile phone.

DROP OFF

We know that sometimes those first few drop offs can be hard for the parent and  baby - but we want to help you with this transition! Don’t feel bad at all if your baby is upset or feels nervous. If you feel comfortable leaving them - just let us know and we will be happy to text you in 5-10 minutes with an update on how your baby is doing. You are also welcome to hang out with your baby in the preschool lobby to help them acclimate.  It is totally normal for one or both of you to be anxious, but we’re here to partner with you in whatever way makes you feel most at ease.
  • When you drop your baby off in their classroom, you will use our sign in sheet to write down some info for us (name, phone number, allergies, needs or special feeding instructions).
  • Please plan to leave us with the necessities your baby will need while they are in our care (bottles, pacifiers, special diapers/wipes, snacks, etc.).
  • We provide diapers, wipes, and age appropriate snacks for older babies, if you do not wish to bring your own. We will always ask you first and make sure we do what you prefer!
  • We ask that you leave any carriers in the car or keep them with you.

WHAT YOUR BABY WILL BE DOING

It’s not just babysitting, its a foundation!

  • In our crawlers and walkers rooms as they gain more independence and learn to play with others, we strive for a 2/3:1 ratio of babies to leaders depending on their age. Your baby will get to play with toys, sing to worship music and be prayed over by their leaders.
  • In our infants room we strive for a 1:1 ratio with our babies and leaders. Your baby's leader will pray over them, speak our 3 Preschool truths over them and play soothing worship music so they feel safe and relaxed. We also like to make sure that the same leader cares for your infant for the whole hour, so they will not be passed around. When you hand your baby off to a leader before service, you can look for the same face when you come back to pick them up.
  • In all our babies rooms, it's important to provide consistent faces for your baby in order to build trust with you and with them! We always provide background-checked leaders who serve every week or every other week so that you and your baby feel comfortable and we can get to know both of you.
  • We will follow your instructions on naps, feedings, and snacks based on your babies needs and what you have written down for us on the sign in sheet.

PICK UP

  • When service is over you will return to your baby’s room for pick up. We ask that only 1 parent enter the room to keep it from getting crowded.
  • We will double check diapers to make sure we hand them back over to you with all clean and dry. We will hand over any other supplies you left with us too.
  • The volunteer will check your sticker to your baby's to make sure they match.
  • In our Infants room we will give you a card or verbally give you all the details of your baby’s time with us.

CHECK IN

The first stop for all children (ages infant through fifth grade) is our check-in desk:

  • First, we will get some basic information from you about your child and provide you with a sticker for your them. A corresponding sticker is given to the parent or guardian of the child during check-in. You and your child must wear the stickers provided during check-in to gain entry to the children’s area.
  • Once you check in and get your stickers, we will help you find your child’s classroom. We have 3 rooms for each age in order to keep class sizes smaller.

What if my preschooler needs me?

  • Don't worry, we promise to let you know ASAP. KEEP YOUR PHONE ON VIBRATE AND IF WE NEED YOU WE WILL TEXT YOU! If we cannot reach your through text, the last four digits of your mobile phone will posted on the digital screens above the exit signs in the main worship center.

DROP OFF

  • We know that sometimes those first few drop offs can be hard - but we want to help you with this transition! If you prefer, we are happy to take the reins so you can go to worship. Or you are welcome to hang out with us until your child feels more comfortable. We will follow your lead and help you and your child feel at ease.
  • When you drop your preschooler off in their classroom, you will use our sign in sheets to give us some information about you and your child.
  • We ask that you do not bring any toys with your preschooler to class, so we can avoid any extra germs and toys getting lost.

SMALL GROUPS & WORSHIP

We want your little ones to leave each Sunday with Jesus being a little more real to them!

SMALL GROUPS

  • Our Preschool small group environments are designed to use activities that promote group play, movement, imagination, creativity, and exploration to teach them our 3 basic truths: God loves me, God made me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
  • Each month we have a fun new theme that highlights Bible stories to show your preschooler where and how these truths show up in the Bible.
  • It’s important to us that we remind them that Jesus is real, the Bible is God’s word, and everything in it is true. (True means that it really happened!)
  • It's also important to us to provide consistent faces for your little one in order to build trust with you and with them! We always provide leaders who serve every week or every other week so that your preschooler can get to know their leaders and we can get to know both of you!

WORSHIP

  • Each week we take time out of our morning to provide a space where your little one can learn to worship!
  • We use videos and music to promote corporate worship. What that looks like for a preschooler is a lot of dancing, clapping, jumping, running in circles, ring around the rosie, and singing!

PICK UP

  • When service is over you will return to your child’s room for pick up. We ask that only 1 parent come to the door to keep it from getting crowded.
  • We will hand over any crafts your child made during class time and their leader will check your sticker to your child’s to make sure they match.

FAQ

WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN IN OBC PRESCHOOL?

In OBC Preschool, we have 3 things that we want every child to know by the time they move up to OBC Kids:

  • God made me.

  • God loves me.

  • And Jesus wants to be my friend forever!

HOW DOES OBC PRESCHOOL ENSURE MY CHILD IS SAFE AND SECURE?

At OBC Preschool, safety is one of our highest priorities. That's why we have a secure check-in system. Upon check-in, you and your child will receive matching identification stickers. Your child will need to wear their name tag sticker and you will need to keep the matching tag. After the service, you'll show the OBC Preschool leader your matching tag in order to pick up your child from their room. This guarantees that you, and only you, will be able to leave the secure area with your baby or child.

Every OBC Preschool volunteer leader is screened, participates in a background check, and receives appropriate training from our staff. Additionally, our hallways are monitored by background-checked security during each worship experience time to make sure your child stays safe and secure while you participate in worship or a class.

In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we can either send you a text message or post the last four digits of your mobile number on the our digital screens above the exit signs in the worship center.

I HAVE A CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD KNOW BEFORE BRINGING THEM TO OBC PRESCHOOL?

If you have a child with special needs who might need a little extra support to participate in OBC Preschool, we'd love to partner with you to make their experience amazing! Please contact our Preschool Director.
