One of the greatest ways we can serve our local community is through prayer. We desire to take our prayers to local neighborhoods to see God’s presence manifested and prayers answered.

What is prayer walking? - Praying on-site with insight.

On site:

*Praying in the area you are asking God to move in or bless
*Could be a neighborhood, downtown, a campus, a city block, church property, or a business
*Praying on location allows you to see, hear, and feel what is happening in that area

Insight:

*Looking for visual clues and remaining sensitive to the promptings of God as you walk
*Praying over known needs in that area.
*You are praying on-site, on location, with greater insight and understanding of that area

What is the goal of prayer walking?

*Intercessory prayer - praying on behalf of others
*While praying over the community, praying a blessing over them, seeking God’s guidance, his mercy & blessings over the people and over the city
*We are asking God to save the lost, to invigorate the saved, and to impact the community with the Gospel
*We are praying against enemy strongholds - anything that keeps people from knowing God
*We are praying with a purpose

What can you pray while prayer walking?

*For people
*Marriages
*Families
*Businesses
*Government
*Leaders
*Police officers, firefighters, and first responders
*Pray that the church will be effective in reaching their communities for Christ
*Pray for hearts to be open to the Gospel
*Pray for God’s people to live on mission in that area
*If you walk past a school, pray for the teachers, the administration, and the students
*Pray for God to remove spiritual blinders & barriers that hinder people from knowing  Jesus
*Pray for God’s blessing on people, homes, and businesses
*Praise God for what you see that is pure, lovely, and worthy of praise - thank Him!

For Who's Your One this year, we are emphasizing prayer walking in our community. Our hope is to see Rockingham County covered in orange areas that have been prayed for! We invite you to join us by praying over areas that have not been marked.

Our church is using the Prayer Walk app to record areas that have been prayed for. Using the app is simple:

1) Download the app on the App Store or Google Play Store.

2) Create an account and join the OBC RoCo Prayer Walk Event.

3) Click the "Add a Prayer Walk" button and tap the streets that you, your family, or your small group have prayer walked.

We consider it an honor to pray with you for the residents of our county and ask God to draw them closer to Him!
