Sunday mornings

CHECK IN

The first stop is our check-in desk:

  • First, we will get some basic information from you about your little(s) and provide you with a sticker for your little. A corresponding sticker is given to the parent or guardian during check-in. You and your little must wear the stickers provided during check-in to gain entry to the children’s area. Once you check in and get your stickers, we will help you find your child’s classroom.

DROP OFF

We know those first few drop offs can be hard for the parent and little - but we want to help you with this transition! Don’t feel bad at all if you or your baby is upset or feels nervous. If you feel comfortable leaving them - just let us know to update you with a text in 5-10 minutes on how your baby is doing. It is totally normal for one or both of you to be anxious, but we’re here to partner with you in whatever way makes you feel most at ease.
  • When you drop your baby off in their classroom, you will use our sign-in sheet to write down some info for us (name, phone number, allergies, needs or special feeding instructions).
  • Please plan to leave us with the necessities your baby will need while they are in our care (bottles, pacifiers, special diapers/wipes, snacks, etc.). We ask that you leave any carriers in the car or keep them with you.
  • We provide diapers, wipes, and age appropriate snacks for older babies, if you do not wish to bring your own. We will always ask you first and make sure we do what you prefer!
  • We ask that you do not bring any toys with your preschooler to class, so we can avoid any extra germs and toys getting lost.

WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE DOING

It’s not just babysitting, its a foundation!

BABIES (INFANTS-WALKERS)

  • In our infants room we strive for a 1:1 ratio with our babies and leaders. Your baby's leader will pray over them, speak our 3 Preschool truths over them and play soothing worship music so they feel safe and relaxed. We also like to make sure that the same leader cares for your infant for the whole hour, so they will not be passed around. When you hand your baby off to a leader before service, you can look for the same face when you come back to pick them up. We always provide background-checked leaders who serve every week or every other week so that you and your baby feel comfortable and we can get to know both of you.
  • In our crawlers and walkers rooms as they gain more independence and learn to play with others, we strive for a 2/3:1 ratio of babies to leaders depending on their age. Your baby will get to play with toys, sing to worship music, and be prayed over by their leaders.
  • We will follow your instructions on naps, feedings, and snacks based on your babies needs and what you have written down for us on the sign in sheet.

PRESCHOOLERS (2-K5)

We want your little ones to leave each Sunday with Jesus being a little more real to them!

SMALL GROUPS

  • Our Preschool small group environments are designed to use activities that promote group play, movement, imagination, creativity, and exploration to teach them our 3 basic truths: God loves me, God made me and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
  • Each month we have a fun new theme that highlights Bible stories to show your preschooler where and how these truths show up in the Bible.
  • It’s important to us that we remind them that Jesus is real, the Bible is God’s word, and everything in it is true. (True means that it really happened!)
  • It's also important to us to provide consistent faces for your little one in order to build trust with you and with them! We always provide leaders who serve every week or every other week so that your preschooler can get to know their leaders and we can get to know both of you!

WORSHIP

  • Each week we take time out of our morning to provide a space where your little one can learn to worship!
  • We use videos and music to promote corporate worship. What that looks like for a preschooler is a lot of dancing, clapping, jumping, running in circles, ring around the rosie, and singing!

PICK UP

  • When service is over you will return to your baby’s room for pick up. We ask that only 1 parent enter the room to keep it from getting crowded.
  • Diapers are checked and changed by our volunteers prior to pick-up time unless baby is asleep. We will hand over any other supplies you left with us too.
  • We will hand over any crafts your child made during class time.
  • The volunteer will check your sticker to your baby's to make sure they match.
  • In our Infants room, we will give you a card or verbally give you all the details of your baby’s time with us.

STORYTIME VIDEOS

Did you know that OBC has a Sunday morning group designed especially for kids with special needs?

MORE INFORMATION

Friendship Kids is designed to create a loving,
safe environment where kids with special needs can
grow spiritually, physically, and socially.

We handle the details of Friendship Kids based on the individual child. Our staff always looks to serve families and kids with special needs in the best way we can.  Sometimes that means in a separate environment, and sometimes that means with a buddy in our elementary classes.

If you have a child who would participate in this ministry or if you are interested in serving in this ministry, please contact us.

FAQ

WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN IN OBC PRESCHOOL?

In OBC Preschool, we have 3 things that we want every child to know by the time they move up to OBC Kids:

  • God made me.

  • God loves me.

  • And Jesus wants to be my friend forever!

HOW DOES OBC PRESCHOOL ENSURE MY CHILD IS SAFE AND SECURE?

At OBC Preschool, safety is one of our highest priorities. That's why we have a secure check-in system. Upon check-in, you'll receive matching identification stickers. Your child will need to wear their name tag sticker and you will need to keep the matching tag. After the service, you'll show your matching tag in order for your child to be released from their room. This guarantees that you, and only you, will be able to leave the secure area with your baby or child.

Every OBC Preschool volunteer leader is screened, participates in a background check, and receives appropriate training from our staff. Additionally, our hallways are monitored by background-checked security during each worship experience time to make sure your child stays safe and secure while you participate in worship or a class.

In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we will send you a text message.
