Rockingham Hope is a faith-based, Christ-centered ministry that seeks to meet the physical, emotional,
and spiritual needs of residents of Rockingham County. Rockingham Hope believes the provision
of food serves a basic need, but more importantly, positive life-change ultimately
happens through the hope and love found in Jesus Christ.
We operate an appointment-based community food pantry that serves upwards of 500 households per month. Approximately one-third of those served are over the age of 60 years. We also provide free consultations with volunteer nurses and volunteer licensed counselors for personal wellness and mental health support. Beginning in June 2020, Rockingham Hope initiated a new mobile pantry home delivery service to residents primarily over the age of 70 and with a disability. Many of these individuals lack consistent food resources and transportation options. Volunteers deliver food to their doors monthly to help meet these needs as well as pray with them and create relationships with those who are in need of hope.
Our long-term vision includes the development of a hot meal site and to consider a free health care clinic concept. This may require a new building location since adequate physical space and vehicular and pedestrian accessibility is desired so Rockingham Hope can operate all of its services under one roof. We value and desire ongoing partnerships with community organizations, churches and businesses to create win-win opportunities and to better serve our community in a way that honors God’s kingdom.
Due to the increased demand of residents who need our help during this time we are in need of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene supplies, and monetary donations. All donations are used directly in our operations budget and help us to maintain food inventories and to pay for such other expenses as utilities, delivery truck fuel, building maintenance, and more.
